A licensed payment processor
PayPlug is a payment processor approved by the ACPR, the French banking regulator. To obtain this banking approval, payment processors must comply with strict requirements concerning security rules, governance, internal control mechanisms, and capital ratios.
In 2012, PayPlug became the first cloud-based financial service approved by the ACPR. This allows us to rely on a scalable and secure infrastructure.
PCI DSS: the highest security standard on the market
The processing and securing of card details is a highly sensitive subject: cybercriminals know how to exploit any data breach. In this regard, PayPlug brings you absolute serenity: our solution is PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) certified, the highest security standard for processing and storing payment data online. This certification is mandatory to accept credit card payments on merchant sites.
Good to know
PCI DSS certification is renewed every year to maintain the highest level of security. No action is required on your side: simply install a PCI-compliant payment solution, such as PayPlug, on your site.
A secure payment page
We offer different models of payment pages (pop-up, redirected): all are secured with the HTTPS protocol, which means that the sensitive data (credit card number, validity date) are encrypted and, therefore, cannot be intercepted in clear text by a third party. This is the guarantee of secure web payments.
In addition, our payment pages include elements to reassure your buyers: the words “100% secure”, a padlock image, and the logos of the accepted payment methods.
PSD2 compliant payment modules
Our API and payment modules are compatible with the Payment Services Directive 2 (PSD2), which aims to better secure online payments with a new 3D Secure protocol. We can request strong or frictionless authentication according to the merchant’s preference and apply the authentication chosen by the issuing banks for each transaction.
PayPlug’s recommendations are relevant since they are followed in 84% of cases regarding frictionless authentication and 95% of cases concerning strong authentication.
A few reminders
- Strong authentication: your buyers must authenticate themselves from their bank's app to validate the payment, by entering a code or biometrics;
- Frictionless authentication: buyers enjoy transparent authentication thanks to the data exchanged between your payment solution and their bank.
A “secure payment” badge to reassure your visitors
51% of Internet users have already abandoned their shopping cart when paying, and 88% of them because they had doubts about the website’s security (Dalenys, 2021). Therefore, it is essential to give your visitors confidence by indicating that their banking information is secure. This information can be included in your legal notice, but not only!
We have designed a “Payment secured by PayPlug” badge for you to install on your website to reassure your customers and encourage them to finalise their purchase. You can integrate it into your footer, product information sheets, or shopping cart page.
